- The Tiger II is a Heavy Tank, designated Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. B or Königstiger, produced by Germany from 1944 and one of the most heavily armored and armed tanks of the Second World War. Its sloped “Henschel” turret and long 8.8 cm gun made it a formidable opponent, though mechanical reliability and fuel consumption limited its effectiveness. Weighing 69.8 tonnes with a crew of five — driver, gunner, bow gunner, commander, and loader — it is powered by an MB HL230 P30 diesel producing 600 horsepower, yielding 8.6 hp/t and a top speed of 42 km/h forward and 11.1 km/h in reverse with neutral steering.
Main armament is the 8.8 cm KwK43 L/71 with a 7.95-second reload; secondary weapons include three 7.92mm MG34 machine guns (coaxial, commander, bow) and a loader-operated grenade mortar. The commander and bow positions are stabilized; the gunner has 2.5x and 5x telescope sights but no rangefinder.
