The Object 704 is a Tank Destroyer, a Soviet heavy assault gun also known as Kirovets-2, representing a late-World War II evolution of the ISU-152 with a redesigned, better-protected casemate and the same 152mm ML-20S howitzer. Developed at the Kirov plant, it remained a limited-production design as the war ended. The vehicle is tracked, weighs 47.3 tonnes, and is crewed by five — driver, gunner, commander, loader, and a passenger — and is powered by a V-2IS diesel engine producing 520 horsepower for an 11 hp/t power-to-weight ratio and a top speed of 40 km/h forward and 15.5 km/h in reverse.
The main armament is the 152mm ML-20S, fed with OF-540 and BR-540B ammunition and a reload of 18 seconds; a 12.7mm DSHK is mounted for the gunner and a second DSHK in the loader’s turret, the latter with a stabilizer for anti-air use. The gunner uses a 4× telescope sight with no rangefinder. Hull storage holds 17 rounds for the main gun.
