- The Marder 1A3 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle and a 1980s upgrade of the West German Marder, introducing improved armour, a new commander’s station with Milan 2 ATGM, and a thermal sight for the gunner; the in-game joke "What do you mean it doesn't have a stabilizer?" refers to the fact that the 20 mm cannon remains unstabilized. The vehicle is tracked, weighs 33.5 tonnes, and carries a crew of three plus five passengers for a total of eight, and is powered by an MTU MB 833 Ea-500 diesel engine producing 600 horsepower for a 17.9 hp/t power-to-weight ratio and a symmetric top speed of 75 km/h, with neutral steering and an automatic gearbox.
The gunner operates a 20mm Rh202 and a 7.62mm MG3 with smoke grenades; the main sight has a laser rangefinder and Gen 1 green thermals at 2× and 6×. The commander has a Milan 2 ATGM with a 7× sight. An optional Milan ER addon is available. The 1A3 remained in German service into the 2000s before being succeeded by the Puma.
