- Description
- The BMP-1TS is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle that modernizes the BMP-1 with the Spys-Syntez turret, armed with a 30mm ZTM-1 autocannon and Stugna-P ATGMs. The Spys-Syntez turret was developed to give legacy BMP-1 hulls improved firepower and fire control without a full hull replacement. The 13.4 t tracked, amphibious vehicle (65 km/h, 7 km/h afloat) retains the UTD-20 diesel (300 hp, 22.4 hp/t) and a crew of three plus six passengers. The turret provides a stabilizer, laser rangefinder, FCS with lead and tracking, and Gen 3 thermals; armament includes the 30 mm gun, 7.62mm PKT, 30mm AGS-17 and R-2 rounds. Smoke is provided by an engine smoke system. The combination of ATGM and modern optics makes the BMP-1TS a capable upgrade for the ageing BMP-1 fleet.
