- The BMD-2 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle that updated the BMD-1 with a 30mm 2A42 autocannon and optional 9M113 Konkurs (or 9M113M) ATGMs, mirroring the evolution from BMP-1 to BMP-2. It was developed for Soviet airborne units to improve anti-infantry and anti-aircraft capability while retaining air-droppability. The 11.5 t tracked hull remains amphibious (80 km/h, 4 km/h afloat) with active suspension and a 5D-20 diesel (241 hp, 21 hp/t), crew of three and four passengers.
The turret has a two-plane stabilizer and elevation to 75° for engaging helicopters; the gunner has a 6× sight and the commander a 5× cupola sight, but no laser rangefinder or thermals. Engine smoke system is standard. This vehicle features three addons: 9M113 Konkurs (CW), 9M113M Konkurs (M), and Airdrop. The 9M113 Konkurs addon costs 1,500 points and equips the BMD-2 with the 9M113 Konkurs ATGM; this significantly increases combat effectiveness, with the missile boasting up to 500 mm of maximum penetration (note: this addon is exclusive to Cold War). The 9M113M Konkurs addon costs 250 points and replaces the stock 9M113 with the 9M113M variant. This upgrade introduces a tandem warhead and adds an extra 300 mm of penetration (increasing it from 500 mm to 800 mm). Finally, the Airdrop addon costs 2,000 points and allows the vehicle to deploy at almost any location on the map, enabling flanking maneuvers or the capture of distant enemy objectives.
