- The Type 10 is a Main Battle Tank developed by Japan and entering JGSDF service from 2012, designed for domestic terrain and rapid deployment with a focus on firepower and mobility. It is a tracked vehicle weighing 44.4 tonnes with a three-man crew (driver, gunner, commander) and an active suspension that allows ride-height and pitch adjustment. The 8VA 34WTK diesel produces 1,200 horsepower for a 27 hp/t ratio and a top speed of 70 km/h in both forward and reverse, with neutral steering.
Main armament is the 120mm TKG smoothbore fed by an autoloader with a 3.4-second cycle, plus a coaxial 7.62mm Type 74 and a commander’s 12.7mm M2. The Type 10 has a laser and missile approach warning system, stabilizer, smoke grenades, and a fire control system with laser rangefinder, lead and tracking, and third-generation thermals on both gunner and commander sights. This vehicle features three addons: Mitsubishi APS, Bulldozer and Camo. The Mitsubishi APS addon costs 1,000 points and equips the Type 10 with a hard-kill active protection system consisting of two launchers on either side of the turret with two charges each, providing comprehensive 360-degree protection against CE rounds and ATGMs. The Bulldozer addon costs 250 points and deploys a clearing blade specifically when the vehicle is in first gear, enabling the safe clearance of enemy mines during slow-speed advances. Finally, the Camo addon costs 100 points and applies a thermal camouflage netting to the barrel, turret, and upper front hull to significantly increase concealment against enemy thermal optics.
