- Description
- The T26E4 Super Pershing is a Heavy Tank and upgunned variant of the T26 Pershing; a few vehicles were sent to Europe in 1945 with the long 90mm T15E1 gun and extra frontal armour to engage heavy German tanks. Weighing 49.9 tonnes with a five-man crew, it is powered by a Ford GAF engine producing 500 horsepower for 10 hp/t and reaches 40 km/h forward and 13 km/h in reverse.
Main armament is the 90 mm T15E1 with a 15-second reload and T41, T42, and T44 ammunition; secondary weapons include a coaxial .30 cal M1919, a commander’s 12.7mm M2, and a bow .30 cal M1919. The commander and bow positions are stabilized; the gunner has a 5x telescope and a 1x/6x periscope but no rangefinder. The Super Pershing traded mobility and rate of fire for superior penetration against thick armour.
