- Description
- The T-44-100 is a Medium Tank and an upgraded T-44 that mounts the 100mm D-10T in place of the original 85 mm gun, bridging the gap between the T-44 and the T-54. The T-44 itself was a 1944 design that introduced a transverse engine and lower silhouette; the -100 variant gave it the same firepower as early T-54s. The 33.5-tonne tracked vehicle is crewed by four and powered by a ChTZ V-44 diesel (520 hp, 15.5 hp/t) for 59 km/h.
The 100mm D-10T has no stabilizer or rangefinder; the gunner uses a 4x telescope. A coaxial 7.62mm DT-28 and a commander-operated 12.7mm DSHK provide secondary armament. The vehicle carries additional side protection and relies on its balance of armour, mobility, and gun caliber for late-WW2 engagements.
