- Description
- The Panther II is a Medium Tank, a proposed successor to the Panther that would have mounted the 88 mm KwK 43 and thicker side armour; only one hull was completed before the programme was cancelled in favour of the Tiger II. In-game it is realized as a heavy medium: 53 tonnes, five crew, MB HL234 diesel at 900 hp for 17 hp/t, 54 km/h forward and 14.4 km/h reverse, with neutral steering. Main armament is the 8.8cm KwK43 L/71 with AP and HE; a coaxial 7.92mm MG34, bow 7.92mm MG34, and a loader-operated grenade mortar for smoke and frag complete the armament. The gunner has a stabilizer, FCS, 3x/6x periscope, and 15x optical rangefinder; the combination of 88 mm punch and improved mobility over the Tiger II makes it a formidable period vehicle.
