- Description
- The Object 906 is a Light Tank, a Soviet experimental amphibious design from the 1960s with a low profile and a powerful 85 mm gun; it did not enter series production. Weighing 14.8 tonnes, it is crewed by three: driver, gunner, and commander. The D-6-300M diesel produces 300 hp for 20.3 hp/t and 74 km/h in both directions, with neutral steering and 10.6 km/h in water.
Main armament is the 85mm D-58 with HE, AP, and HEAT (3BK7), fed by a mechanized rack; a coaxial 7.62mm SGMT is fitted. The gunner has a stabilizer and 3.5x/7x sight without rangefinder; the commander has a stabilized cupola with 5x sight. An engine smoke system is fitted. The Object 906 combines amphibious capability with strong firepower for its class.
