General information

Description
The Namer 30 is a heavy infantry fighting vehicle based upon the Merkava Mk.4 with improved electronics and defensive systems. The Merkava family has been the backbone of Israeli armoured forces since the late 1970s; the Namer is an IFV based upon the Merkava hull, designed to safely transport troops to the battlefield. The vehicle is tracked, weighs 64.4 t, and is crewed by three—driver, gunner, and commander. It is powered by an AVDS-1790-9AR diesel engine producing 1,200 hp for an 18.6 hp/t power-to-weight ratio and has a top speed of 54 km/h forward and 24 km/h reverse, with neutral steering and an automatic gearbox. The turret is the Samson RCWS-30; it is fully featured and includes lead, tracking, Gen 3 thermals, and a stabilizer. It utilises the 30mm Treemaster, a 7.62 mm FN MAG 60-40 coaxial machine gun, and Spike-LR2/MR FNF ATGMs. The driver is equipped with 12 smoke grenades, and the commander has a 60mm Soltam Mortar for firing smoke and HE rounds.
