The KPz-70 is a Main Battle Tank, the German designation for the joint MBT-70 program developed with the United States in the 1960s to replace the Leopard 1 and M60. The project featured a low profile, 152 mm gun-launcher with Shillelagh ATGMs, and an oscillating turret with the driver in the hull; it was cancelled in 1969 due to cost and complexity. In-game it is a tracked vehicle weighing 51.7 tonnes with a crew of three and MTU MB 873 Ka-501 diesel producing 1,500 horsepower for 29 hp/t and 64 km/h in both directions.
The main armament is the 152mm XM150E5 with APFSDS, MGM-51C ATGMs, and HE; a coaxial 7.62mm MG3 and a commander’s 20mm Rh202 provide secondary fire. The turret is stabilized and has smoke grenades, a laser rangefinder, and FCS with lead; active suspension adjusts ride height, roll, and pitch.
This vehicle features a single addon: Vismod. The Vismod addon costs 250 points, this kit equips the vehicle with various external stowage sacks and a non-functional IR searchlight. This addon is purely cosmetic and provides no statistical improvements to armor or combat effectiveness; instead, it is intended to simulate the appearance of a field-modified vehicle.
