- Description
- The K1 is a Main Battle Tank developed for South Korea in the 1980s with American design input (the program was known as XK1 and ROKIT). It entered Republic of Korea Army service in 1987 and remains in use alongside the K1A1 and K2. In-game it is a tracked vehicle weighing 51.1 tonnes with a crew of four, powered by an MTU MB 871 Ka-501 diesel producing 1,200 horsepower for 23.5 hp/t and 65 km/h forward.
The main armament is the 105mm KM68A1 with M456A1 and K274 and a 5.3-second reload; secondary armament includes a coaxial 7.62mm M60E2-1, a commander’s 12.7mm M2, and a loader’s 7.62mm M60D. The turret is stabilized and has smoke grenades, a laser rangefinder, and FCS; the gunner has first-generation green-hot thermals. Active suspension provides ride height and pitch adjustment.
