- Description
- The FOX-MILAN is a variant of the FV721 Fox and is a reconnaissance vehicle. It is a British wheeled armoured car that entered service in the 1970s and was used for scouting and security roles; it replaces the stock 30mm L21A1-equipped turret with one equipped with the MILAN ATGM and a 7.62mm L94A1 MG. Weighing 6.1 tonnes with a crew of two—driver and commander—it is highly mobile, with a Jaguar J.60 No 1 Mk 100B diesel engine producing 190 hp for 31.1 hp/t and a top speed of 105 km/h in both directions. The commander has the MILAN 2 ATGM and coaxial 7.62mm L94A1, along with smoke grenades and a fire control system; the main sight offers 1x and 8x magnification with no rangefinder. Light armour and a wheeled layout suit it to hit-and-run tactics and reconnaissance rather than sustained combat.
