- The Chieftain Mk.5 is a Main Battle Tank, the definitive production variant of the British Chieftain series that served from the 1960s into the 1990s, notable for its reclining driver position and 120mm L11A5 rifled gun. It weighs 55 tonnes with a crew of four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader — and is tracked. The Leyland L60 multi-fuel engine delivers 760 hp for 13.8 hp/t and a top speed of 48 km/h, with neutral steering.
The main gun is stabilized and supported by a 12.7 mm L21A1 ranging machine gun and coaxial 7.62mm L8A1; the turret has smoke grenades and a fire control system with 8x main and 7x backup sights. The commander has a stabilized 7.62mm L37A1 and 1x–10x sight.
