- Description
- The BMD-4M is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle and a modernized BMD-4 (BMD-3 derivative) for Russian airborne forces, with a Bakhcha-U turret mounting a 100 mm gun/launcher and 30 mm autocannon. The design keeps the BMD lineage’s air-droppable, amphibious layout while adding firepower comparable to the BMP-3. The 15 t tracked hull reaches 70 km/h on land and 4 km/h afloat, with a UTD-29 diesel producing 500 hp (33.3 hp/t), active suspension, neutral steering, and a crew of three plus five passengers.
Main armament is the 100mm 2A70M (9M117M1 ATGM and HE) and 30mm 2A72 plus 7.62mm PKT, with stabilizer, laser rangefinder, FCS with lead and tracking, Gen 2 thermals, and a commander CITV. Smoke grenades and an engine smoke system are fitted; optional addons include extra armour and airdrop kit. This vehicle features two addons: Additional Armour and Airdrop. The Additional Armour addon costs 50 points and adds two 7.5mm plates to the LFP and UFP; this increases survivability marginally. The Airdrop addon costs 2,000 points and allows the vehicle to deploy at almost any location on the map, enabling flanking maneuvers or the capture of distant enemy objectives.
