- The Ariete C1 is a Main Battle Tank and the primary MBT of the Italian Army, developed by a consortium led by Iveco and Oto Melara and entering service in the late 1990s. It was designed to replace the Leopard 1 and M60 in Italian service with a balance of firepower, mobility, and protection suited to Italy's terrain; criticism of its armour led to the nickname reflected in its in-game description. The vehicle is crewed by four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader — on a tracked hull weighing 54 tonnes, powered by a Fiat MTCA 12V diesel producing 1,300 horsepower for a 24.1 hp/t ratio, with a top speed of 65 km/h forward and 46 km/h reverse and an automatic transmission with neutral steering.
Main armament is the 120mm OTO Breda 120/44 smoothbore cannon, fed by the loader and supplemented by 7.62mm Beretta MG42/59 machine guns in coaxial, commander, and loader positions. The turret is stabilized and fitted with a laser warning system, smoke grenades, a laser rangefinder, Gen 2 green thermals, and a fire control system with lead computation at 10x magnification. This vehicle features three addons: Ariete Warkit, Ariete PSO and Improved Ammunition. The Ariete Warkit costs 750 points and reinforces the turret cheeks, providing extra protection. The Ariete PSO costs 500 points and adds composite screens to the forward sides of the turret and hull; these provide increased protection to the turret and hull sides. Finally, the Improved Ammunition upgrade replaces the stock DM33 APFSDS with CL3143, increasing maximum penetration by 107 mm (from 482 mm to 589 mm) while adding the DM31 HE round, which contains 3.93 kg of explosive filler. Ariete Warkit and PSO can not be used together.
