- Description
- The Air Defense Anti Tank System (ADATS) is a Self Propelled Anti Aircraft vehicle that can engage both aircraft and armoured targets with the same MIM146 missile system. Developed in the 1980s by Oerlikon (later Rheinmetall) for the US Army and later adopted by Canada and Thailand, ADATS combined a radar-directed, laser-guided missile with a single dual-role launcher. In-game it is a tracked vehicle weighing 25 tonnes with a crew of two (driver and gunner), amphibious at 4 km/h. The VTA-903T diesel produces 600 horsepower for 24 hp/t and a road speed of 66 km/h.
The MIM146 launcher carries eight rounds with a 4 s reload and can fire in anti-air or anti-tank mode; the gunner has a laser rangefinder, fire control system with lead and tracking, and Gen 1 white thermals. The turret is stabilised and the driver’s position has smoke grenades. Armour is light (9–50 mm), as the vehicle is intended to fight from standoff range rather than absorb direct fire.
