- Description
- The Sherman Firefly is a Medium Tank, a British conversion of the American M4 Sherman that mounted the powerful 76mm QF 17-pounder anti-tank gun to counter German heavy armour in 1944–45. It became one of the few Allied tanks capable of defeating the Tiger and Panther at long range. In-game it is a tracked vehicle weighing 35.3 tonnes with a crew of four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader. The Chrysler A57 multibank petrol engine delivers 425 horsepower (12 hp/t) for a top speed of 40 km/h.
The 17-pounder is paired with a coaxial .30 cal M1919; the commander’s cupola has a 12.7mm M2 with a stabilizer. Fire control is limited to a 3x telescope and a 1.44x periscope with no stabilizer on the main gun.
