- Description
- The Mi-24VM is a Helicopter Gunship and a modernized export and Russian upgrade of the Mi-24 "Hind," which has been one of the world’s most widely used attack helicopters since the 1970s; the VM variant brings improved avionics, a new gun mount, and optional guided weapons. The helicopter has a crew of two — pilot and co-pilot — and can carry up to 8 passengers for a total seating capacity of 10.
The co-pilot operates a stabilized 23mm GSh-23L cannon with a 450-round magazine (API-T and HEF-I), with a fire control system offering lead and tracking, laser rangefinder, and second-generation white-hot thermals at 3.7×–73.7× zoom. The pilot has a flare dispenser for countermeasures. Optional addons include the 9K127 Vikhr or 9M120 Ataka ATGMs, 9M39 Igla air-to-air missiles, S-8KOM rockets, B-13L rocket pods, UPK-23 gunpods, an exhaust cooler, and an IR jammer.
