- The T-80U-E1 is a Main Battle Tank representing an upgraded Russian T-80U with an improved stabilizer, better thermals, and a retrofitted autoloader for faster reloads. The T-80U entered service in the 1980s as the first Soviet production tank with a gas turbine engine. Weighing 46 tonnes with a three-man crew, it is powered by a GTD-1250 turbine producing 1,250 horsepower (27.2 hp/t) and reaches 70 km/h forward and 11.1 km/h in reverse — notably better reverse than the typical T-72/90 family.
Main armament is the 125mm 2A46M-1 with a 6-second autoloader cycle, firing 3BM59 APFSDS, 3BK18M HEAT, 9M119M1 ATGMs, and HE-Frag; a coaxial 7.62mm PKT and commander’s 12.7mm NSVT are fitted. The vehicle has a stabilizer, smoke grenades, and engine smoke. The gunner has a laser rangefinder, fire control with lead and tracking, and second-generation white-hot thermals.
