- Description
- The T-54M is a Main Battle Tank representing a deep modernization of the T-54, bringing the old hull up to late-Cold War standards with a new power pack and fire control. The upgrade replaces the original engine with a MTU MT881 Ka-500 diesel producing 1,000 horsepower, giving the 38-tonne vehicle a 26.3 hp/t ratio and retaining 50 km/h top speed with much better acceleration.
The crew of four operates a stabilized 100mm D-10T cannon paired with a laser rangefinder, FCS with lead computation, and 5x–10x zoom. Secondary armament includes a coaxial 7.62mm PKT and a roof 12.7mm DSHK. The T-54M has no APS but benefits from modern optics and stabilizer for accurate fire on the move, extending the platform's usefulness into the modern era.
