- Description
- The Strela-10 is a Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft vehicle, the Soviet 9K35 system that entered service in the 1970s to provide short-range defence against low-level aircraft using the 9M37 (SA-13 Gopher) infrared-homing missile. It is based on the MT-LB and is tracked and amphibious at 6 km/h. Weighing 11.5 tonnes with a crew of three (driver, gunner, commander), it is powered by a YaMZ 238 diesel producing 240 horsepower (20.9 hp/t) for 62 km/h on roads.
The gunner launcher carries four 9M37M missiles with two reload packs; the commander has a 12.7mm NSVT for self-defence. The vehicle has an engine smoke system and a simple 1.8x optical sight for the missile station.
