- Description
- The M60A1 RISE Passive is a Main Battle Tank, an M60A1 upgraded under the Reliability Improved Selected Equipment (RISE) programme with a new engine and transmission, and "Passive" denoting additional armour including explosive reactive armour (ERA) to improve survivability against shaped charges. These upgrades extended the M60's service life into the 1980s and beyond. The 53.2-tonne tracked vehicle is crewed by four and powered by an AVDS-1790-2 diesel producing 750 hp for 14.1 hp/t and 48 km/h.
Main armament is the stabilized 105mm M68E1 with an optical rangefinder and FCS; ammunition includes M456A2 HEAT, M735 APFSDS, M393A2 HEP, and M416 smoke. A coaxial 7.62mm M240 and commander's 12.7mm M85 are fitted, along with smoke grenades and engine smoke.
