- Description
- The M4A3E2 (75) Jumbo is a Medium Tank and the original M4A3E2 Jumbo, an up-armoured assault variant of the M4 Sherman produced in 1944 for breaking through fortified positions. It saw notable use in the Battle of the Bulge and the push into Germany. The 37.8-tonne tracked vehicle is crewed by five — driver, gunner, bow gunner, commander, and loader — and is powered by a Ford GAA V8 producing 500 hp for 13.2 hp/t and 35 km/h.
The stabilized 75mm M3 is the main armament with coaxial .30 cal M1919; the commander has a 12.7mm M2 and the bow gunner a .30 cal M1919. The gunner has a 3x telescope and 1x/6x periscope with no rangefinder. The Jumbo's added armour made it significantly more resistant to anti-tank fire than the standard Sherman.
