- Description
- The M4A2E8 Sherman, nicknamed “Easy Eight,” is a late-war Medium Tank combining the M4A2 diesel powertrain with horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) and the more powerful 76 mm gun. The E8 suspension improved ride and reliability, and the 76 mm M1 gave better anti-tank performance than the 75 mm M3. The vehicle weighs 33 tonnes and is crewed by five: driver, gunner, bow gunner, commander, and loader. The GM 6046 diesel delivers 410 horsepower for 12.4 hp/t and 47 km/h top speed.
Main armament is the 76 mm M1 cannon with AP, APCR, and HE rounds; secondary weapons are a coaxial .30 cal M1919, cupola 12.7 mm M2, and bow .30 cal M1919. Stabilizers are fitted to the gunner, commander, and bow positions; the gunner has a 4x/8x telescope and a 1x/6x periscope.
