- The M48A3 Patton is a Medium Tank, represented in-game by the M48A3 variant that standardized the diesel engine and improvements developed during the Vietnam era. The M48 family entered U.S. service in the early 1950s and saw extensive use with the U.S. Army and allied nations. Weighing 44.9 tonnes, it is crewed by four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader — and is tracked. The AV1790 diesel produces 830 horsepower for 18.5 hp/t, 45 km/h top speed, neutral steering, and an automatic transmission. Main armament is the 90 mm M41 gun with AP, HEAT, and HE; a coaxial .30 cal M1919 and a cupola 12.7 mm M2 provide secondary fire. The commander’s station has a stabilizer; the gunner and commander share a fire control system with an optical rangefinder and 8x/10x sights, but no laser or thermals.
