- The M2A4E1 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle representing an upgraded M2 Bradley with improved powerpack, optics, and active protection. The M2 Bradley entered U.S. service in the 1980s to carry infantry and support them with a 25 mm cannon and TOW missiles; the A4 and E1 variants add reliability and survivability improvements. Weighing 35.9 tonnes, it carries a driver, gunner, commander, and six passengers and is tracked. The VTA903E-T675 diesel produces 675 horsepower for 18.8 hp/t, 66 km/h top speed, neutral steering, and an automatic transmission.
Armament includes the 25 mm M242 Bushmaster autocannon, a 7.62 mm M240 machine gun, and BGM-71F TOW 2A/B ATGMs. The turret has a stabilizer, fire control with lead and tracking, laser rangefinder, and Gen 3 white thermals; the commander has a separate thermal CITV. An APS with two launchers (two charges each) can intercept threats between 70 and 2,000 m/s, with laser and missile approach warning.
