- Description
- The M26 T99 is a Heavy Tank based on the M26 Pershing, fitted with the T99 rocket launcher — a calliope-style rack of M8 rockets for area saturation, similar in concept to the Sherman Calliope. It combined the Pershing's 90 mm M3 gun and armour with a 44-rocket salvo capability for use against infantry and soft targets. The 41.6 t vehicle is crewed by five (driver, gunner, bow gunner, commander, loader) and is powered by a Ford GAF engine producing 500 hp for 12 hp/t and 48 km/h.
The 90 mm M3 is the primary armament with M82, M304, and M71 ammunition; the M8 Rocket launcher carries 44 HE rockets. A coaxial .30 cal M1919, commander's 12.7 mm M2, and bow .30 cal M1919 complete the armament. The gunner has 4x/8x and 1x/6x sights with no rangefinder or FCS; the commander and bow positions have stabilizers.
