- The 2S43 is a Self Propelled Howitzer and a wheeled 152 mm artillery system developed in Russia, entering service in the 2020s as a more mobile alternative to tracked howitzers like the 2S19 Msta-S. The Malva (Mallow) mounts the same family of 152 mm ordnance on an 8×8 truck chassis for rapid road march and deployment. The vehicle weighs 42 tonnes and is crewed by six — driver, gunner, commander, loader, and two passengers — with a YaMZ-8424.10 diesel producing 470 horsepower for an 11.2 hp/t ratio and a top speed of 80 km/h forward and 16 km/h reverse.
The 152mm 2A64M gun fires a wide range of HE and proxy-fused rounds (3VO28, 3VOF91) in low, medium, and high charges, with an 8.5 s reload and 12 rounds in the turret and 12 in the hull. The gun has 0° to 70° elevation and 10 deg/s traverse; the gunner uses a 1x sight and fire control system with no laser rangefinder. The driver position has smoke grenades. Armour is minimal, as the vehicle is intended to shoot from covered positions.
