- The JgPz 38t is an Assault Gun better known as the Hetzer, a German tank destroyer of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Czechoslovak Panzer 38(t). Developed from 1943 and produced by Böhmisch-Mährische Maschinenfabrik (BMM), the Hetzer combined a low silhouette, sloped armour, and the 7.5 cm PaK 39 L/48 in a fixed casemate, becoming one of the most effective light tank destroyers of the war. It is crewed by four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader — and weighs 24 tonnes on a tracked hull. A Praga EPA AC2800 diesel delivers 158 horsepower for 6.6 hp/t and a maximum speed of 47 km/h forward and 8.3 km/h reverse.
The main armament is the 7.5 cm PaK 39 L/48 cannon with PzGr 39, Hl.Gr 38B, and Sprgr. 34 rounds; the commander has a stabilized 7.92 mm MG 34 for close defense. The gunner uses a 5x telescope sight with no rangefinder or stabilizer on the main gun.
