The T-60 is a Soviet Tankette developed in 1941 as a light reconnaissance and infantry-support vehicle, produced in large numbers after the invasion of the USSR to replace losses and supplement the T-50. It used automotive components from the GAZ truck family to simplify production. Crewed by two — a driver and a gunner — the 5.8-tonne tracked hull is powered by a GAZ-202 diesel producing 70 horsepower for a 12.1 hp/t power-to-weight ratio and a top speed of 45 km/h.
Armament consists of a 20mm TNSh automatic cannon (a tank adaptation of the ShVAK aircraft gun) with FI and API ammunition, plus a coaxial 7.62mm DT-28 machine gun. The turret has no stabilizer or rangefinder; the gunner uses a 2.5x telescope sight. Light armour and small size made the T-60 vulnerable, but it remained in use for reconnaissance and secondary roles throughout the war.
