The Object 450 is a Main Battle Tank built around an unconventional oscillating turret and a secondary commander’s turret on top, giving it a distinctive silhouette; the design is representative of experimental Soviet-era concepts that explored oscillating turrets for improved gun depression and autoloader placement. The vehicle is tracked, weighs 38.5 tonnes, and is crewed by three — driver, gunner, and commander — and is powered by a KMDB 6TD diesel engine producing 1,000 horsepower for a 26 hp/t power-to-weight ratio and a symmetric top speed of 70 km/h forward and reverse.
The main armament is the 125mm 2A47 cannon with a 6.5-second reload and access to 3BM22, 3BK12M, and 3OF26 ammunition, plus a coaxial 7.62mm PKT; the commander’s turret mounts a 30mm 2A42 with a 6× sight. The main gun has a two-plane stabilizer and a fire control system with lead computation and a laser rangefinder (3.9×–9×). An engine smoke system is fitted for defensive screening.
