Description
: The **T-80B** is a Main Battle Tank and the first mass-produced model of the Soviet T-80 family, fielded from the late 1970s and distinguished by its **GTD-1000TF** gas turbine engine. The T-80 was developed at the Leningrad Kirov Plant as a high-mobility counterpart to the diesel T-72, and the B variant introduced the 125mm 2A46 and capability to fire the **9M112** Kobra gun-launched ATGM. A three-man crew — driver, gunner, commander — operates the 42-tonne tracked chassis, which achieves 70 km/h thanks to 1,100 hp and a 26.2 hp/t power-to-weight ratio.
Main armament is a stabilized **125mm 2A46M-1** with autoloader (3BM42 APFSDS, 3BK18M HEAT, 3OF26 HE, 9M112 ATGM), with a laser rangefinder, fire control system with lead, and 3.9x–9x magnification. Secondary weapons are a coaxial **7.62mm PKT** and a commander's **12.7mm NSVT**; defenses include smoke grenades and an engine smoke system.
This vehicle features three addons: **Agava**, **T-80BV (1985)** and **External Fuel Tanks**. The Agava addon costs 250 points and provides the gunner with an additional Gen 1 thermal sight, which aids significantly in target identification despite its lower resolution compared to modern systems. The T-80BV (1985) addon costs 500 points and outfits the hull and turret with extensive Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA) coverage, providing a vital defensive layer against chemical energy (CE) rounds and incoming ATGMs. Finally, the External Fuel Tanks addon is free and serves a purely aesthetic purpose, mounting decorative fuel barrels to the rear of the hull for a more authentic and rugged battlefield appearance. The Agava and T-80BV (1985) addons can only be used in cold war.
