Description
: The **Pz IV Ausf. 1946** is a Medium Tank representing a hypothetical late-war evolution of the Panzer IV, combining a Schmalturm (narrow turret) and angled hull armour with the powerful 75 mm gun used on the Panther. Such a design was never built; the real Schmalturm was intended for the [Panther F](/md/rv/vehicles/panther-f.md). In-game it weighs 26 tonnes with a crew of five and is powered by an **MB HL234** diesel rated at 900 hp, giving 34.6 hp/t and 39 km/h.
Main armament is the **75 mm KwK42** with HE and PzGr 39/42, plus coaxial **7.92mm MG34**; commander and bow gunners have **7.92mm MG34** mounts. The gunner has a 2.5x and 5x telescope; there is no main-gun stabilizer or rangefinder, but the combination of gun and improved layout makes it a strong period medium.
This vehicle features a single addon: **Prototype Ammunition**. The Prototype Ammunition addon costs 1,000 points and equips the vehicle with the Pfeilgeschoss 3/7,5 APFSDS. This early-generation sub-caliber round features 234 mm of maximum penetration, making it an incredibly formidable round within the World War II game mode.
