Description
: The **Hornisse** (later redesignated **Nashorn**) is a Tank Destroyer built by Germany during the Second World War, mounting the long **8.8 cm Pak 43/1** on a lengthened Panzer III/IV chassis for long-range anti-tank work. It is a tracked vehicle weighing 24.3 tonnes with a crew of four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader. The **MB HL120 TRM** diesel delivers 296 hp for 12.2 hp/t and a top speed of 40 km/h.
The main gun is complemented by a commander's stabilized **7.92mm MG34** for local defense. The gunner has a 5x telescope sight with no rangefinder; the open-topped fighting compartment offers no overhead protection.
