Description
: The **Mi-8AMTSh** is a Utility Helicopter, a Russian armed transport variant of the **Mi-8** "Hip" series that has served as the backbone of Soviet and Russian rotary-wing logistics and assault since the 1960s; the AMTSh designation indicates an upgraded, multi-role version with weapons options. The helicopter has a crew of two — pilot and co-pilot — and can carry up to 18 passengers for a total seating capacity of 20.
The co-pilot station has a stabilizer and a main sight with a laser rangefinder and 3.3×–10× zoom for guiding optional addon armament such as the **9M114 Shturm** or **9M14M** ATGMs and **S-8KOM** rocket pods; the pilot has a 0.7× sight and a flare dispenser for countermeasures. As a utility platform, the Mi-8AMTSh emphasizes transport and flexible weapon loads rather than built-in fixed armament.
