Description
: The **Mark IV** is a Heavy Tank, the standard British rhomboid tank of late World War I, fielded from 1917 as a refined successor to earlier "Mother" designs with improved hatches and armour layout for the Tank Corps offensives of the Hundred Days. Its long, lozenge-shaped tracks were meant to climb parapets and bridge trenches while sponson guns swept the shoulders of the advance. In-game, it weighs 28 tonnes and is crewed by four—a driver, commander, gunner, and bow gunner—on a non-amphibious tracked chassis. A **Ricardo** diesel is rated at 1,500 horsepower, but a three-speed manual transmission and trench-crossing gearing cap the hull at 6 km/h forward and 1 km/h astern, without neutral steering.
Primary firepower comes from the **57 mm 6pdr OQF**, with some crew positions using fixed-magnification telescope sights and others relying on simpler optics, all without modern fire-control suites. Defensive **7.72 Lewis 1916** machine guns are distributed around the hull, including stabilised mounts for suppressing infantry while the tank creeps forward.
