Description
: The **BMP-2M** is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle and a modernized [BMP-2](/md/rv/vehicles/bmp-2.md) that replaces the original 30 mm and Konkurs fit with a more capable turret and fire control. The BMP-2 itself entered Soviet service in the 1980s as a successor to the [BMP-1](/md/rv/vehicles/bmp-1.md), emphasizing a high-elevation 30 mm cannon for infantry and helicopter engagement. The 14.5 t tracked, amphibious hull (65 km/h, 4 km/h afloat) is powered by a **UTD-23** diesel producing 400 hp (27.6 hp/t) and carries a crew of three plus seven passengers.
The turret mounts a **30mm 2A42M** autocannon, **30mm AG-30** grenade launcher, **7.62mm PKT**, and **9M133 Kornet** ATGMs, with a two-plane stabilizer, laser rangefinder, FCS with lead and tracking, and Gen 2 thermals. The commander has a CITV with laser; defensive equipment includes smoke grenades and an engine smoke system.
