Description
: The **T-62** is a Main Battle Tank and the first Soviet production tank to mount a smoothbore gun, the **115mm U-5TS** (2A20), entering service in 1961. Developed at Uralvagonzavod from the T-55 lineage, the T-62 was built in large numbers and exported widely; it saw combat in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and elsewhere and remains in use in several armies. A crew of four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader — operates the 37-tonne tracked vehicle, powered by a **ChTZ V-55V** diesel (580 hp, 15.7 hp/t) for a top speed of 50 km/h.
The **115mm U-5TS** is loaded manually and fires 3BM3 APFSDS, 3BK4 HEAT, and 3OF11 HE; the gunner has a 3.5x/7x telescope with no laser rangefinder or fire control system. A coaxial **7.62mm PKT** provides secondary fire; the tank has a two-axis stabilizer and engine smoke but no smoke grenade launchers.
This vehicle features two addons: **Late Production** and **External Fuel Tanks**. The Late Production addon costs 250 points and equips the loader with a stabilised 12.7mm NSVT heavy machine gun; this significantly improves the vehicle's effectiveness against infantry and provides a reliable tool for clearing obstructing foliage. The External Fuel Tanks addon is free and adds decorative fuel barrels to the rear of the hull, offering a more authentic battlefield appearance.
