Description
: The **T-34E** is a Medium Tank and an uparmoured variant of the Soviet [T-34](/md/mtc/vehicles/t-34.md), the "E" suffix denoting _ekranirovanniy_ (screened) with added armour packages. The T-34 was the Red Army's principal medium tank of the Second World War, and appliqué armour was one of several field upgrades applied to improve survivability. The 30.6-tonne tracked vehicle is crewed by four — driver, gunner, bow gunner, and loader — and powered by a **Model V-2-34** diesel producing 500 horsepower for 16.3 hp/t and 55 km/h.
Main armament is the **76mm F-34** gun with a coaxial **7.62mm DT-28**; there is no stabilizer or rangefinder, with a simple telescope sight. The extra armour increases protection at the cost of some mobility and distinguishes the E from the baseline [T-34](/md/mtc/vehicles/t-34.md).
