Description
: The **K1A1** is a Main Battle Tank and a modernized variant of the South Korean [K1](/md/mtc/vehicles/k1.md), which was developed with Chrysler (later General Dynamics) in the 1980s and entered ROK Army service in 1987. The K1A1 upgrade replaced the 105 mm gun with a 120 mm smoothbore and improved fire control and armour. In-game it is a tracked vehicle weighing 53.2 tonnes with a crew of four, powered by an **MTU MB 871 Ka-501** diesel producing 1,200 horsepower for 22.6 hp/t and 65 km/h forward.
The main armament is the **120mm KM256** with K277 and K276 and a 6-second reload; secondary armament includes a coaxial **7.62mm M60E2-1**, a commander’s **12.7mm M2**, and a loader’s **7.62mm M60D**. The turret is stabilized and has smoke grenades, a laser rangefinder, and FCS with lead; sights include second-generation green-hot thermals. Active suspension provides ride height and pitch adjustment.
