Team : Hawk Republic # IS-2 1944 Role : Heavy Tank ## [General information](/md/mtc/vehicles/is-2-1944.md#general-information) Description : The **IS-2 1944** is a Heavy Tank and the main production variant of the Soviet Iosif Stalin series, fielded in large numbers from 1944 onward; its 122 mm gun and thick armour made it a formidable opponent for German heavy tanks on the Eastern Front. The vehicle weighs 46 tonnes and is crewed by four — driver, gunner, commander, and loader — and is tracked. The **V-2IS** diesel produces 520 hp for 11.3 hp/t and a top speed of 37 km/h. Primary armament is the **122mm D-25T** cannon with a coaxial **7.62mm DT-28**; the commander and loader each have stabilized positions with **12.7mm DSHK** and **7.62mm DT-28** respectively, and the driver has a **7.62mm DT-28**. The gunner has a 4x telescope and 1x periscope; there is no rangefinder.
