Description
: The **BT-42** is a Light Tank produced by Finland during the Continuation War, combining captured Soviet BT-7 chassis with a British **114mm Psv.H/18** howitzer in a new turret. Only 18 were built; they were used for infantry support and proved underpowered against well-armored Soviet tanks. The 15 t tracked vehicle is crewed by three — driver, gunner, and loader — and reaches 49 km/h forward. The **M-5-400** diesel produces 400 hp for 26.7 hp/t.
The **114mm Psv.H/18** fires akr 32/41 and hkr 42/C with a 10 s reload; the gunner has a 4x telescope with no rangefinder or stabilizer. The BT-42 lacked the armour and gun performance to be effective in the anti-tank role but provided mobile direct fire for Finnish troops.
